Loon - Pictorial

So recently I put a post on here about how we're going to be keeping the house at Loon Mtn in our family. After my mother's death two years ago, we went up and cleaned it out and the intention was to sell it because my Dad doesn't ski and as he's gotten older, schlepping up to Loon and back is kind of a pain in the neck. But recently he informed my brother and I that he wanted to keep it in the family so my brother and I are going to take over ownership of it. It was super generous of my Dad but mostly I'm just so happy that it will stay in our family. We've had it since I was 13 and we've had Christmas up there and I've brought many friends up there over the years to go hiking or skiing or whatever. The thought of it with someone else's family seemed really wrong so I'm thrilled we'll be keeping it. Hopefully I can convince people to go up with me as I plan to use it a lot this Winter. Here are some pictures of the place from this past weekend - my Dad and I went up to "Winterize" it.

Big_bear_road

Big Bear Road - This is where we live in the Clearbrook development. You can't see my house here but they all look pretty much the same.

House_1_2

#3 - Big Bear Road. That's my Dad's dog Sergio. He's a Black Lab and I don't think if I tried I could come up with a gayer name for a dog than Sergio.

House_2

This is it front the other side. That tarp is coving a pile of fire wood

Lucky_mtn

The sign as you enter the house which I love. My Mom picked this out years ago. She found stuff like this in little shops all over New England and loved to put them up to give you an extra smile. I had forgotten about the sign until I got up there last night and she was right. It made me smile. Thanks Mom.

Mud_room

The Mud room as you enter the house. It smells like cedar which is nice

Downstairs_hallway

Once you come into the house if you head downstairs, this is where my room and my brother's rooms were growing up. That's Sergio again wondering what the hell I'm doing.

Trevs_room

My room. Gotta love the bunk beds and the canary yellow color palate

Bretts_room

My brother's room. His room was a better color. The quilted window covers actually do a great job of keeping the heat in but always remind me of a diaper for some reason.

Living_room

The Living Room. The Couch and Love seat are new. I'm not really crazy about the look of the Living Room right now. A lot of different looks going on. Needs a bit more of a consistent theme.

Dining_room

This is a shot of the dining room from the perspective of the Living Room

Kitchen

The Kitchen. Love the Brady Bunch Yellow/Orange color palate going on in here. Dad just had all the appliances upgraded though so I'm psyched about that.

Porch

This is outside the dining room. We don't really use the porch all that much because typically it's too cold. But the grill goes here.

Loon

This is the view from the porch. It's of a section of trails on Loon Mountain called the North Peak. Intermediate and Expert trails. The curvey one on the Left is called 'Walking Boss' and the one on the right is called 'The Flume'

Sergio

Sergio - I had to include a picture of him since he was patient and walked around with me while I took all these pictures. Thanks bud.
